Financial Aid Policy
While Zaytuna College is dedicated to delivering the highest quality educational experience possible to each of its students, the college is currently not accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. Until Zaytuna College achieves accreditation, students are not eligible for any state or federal grants or loans. Students may apply for financial aid and scholarships by filling out the online financial aid application or seek zakat or other private sources of financial aid.
Zaytuna College strives diligently to assist students in securing the funds needed to study at the college.
Registration
You must register for and complete all the required courses for your cohort in each semester in order to maintain full eligibility for scholarships and grants.
If you do not meet the enrollment requirement, you may be required to immediately repay up to the entire amount of financial aid disbursements that you have received for the semester, even if you have already spent these funds.
Academic Progress
As a recipient of financial aid funds, you must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and abide by Zaytuna College’s Honor Code. In addition, a grade of D or below in any class will place you on academic probation. Two Ds in two consecutive semesters will automatically disqualify you for financial aid, even if the overall GPA remains higher than 3.0. You will be eligible for aid once again if the overall GPA is 3.0 or higher and no Ds have been received for an entire year or two consecutive semesters.
Notification Requirements
As a recipient of financial aid funds, you are required to immediately notify Zaytuna College if you receive any outside award funds not already noted on your award letter or if the financial situation of you or your parents changes. This may affect your eligibility for financial aid funds, including funds that you have already received and spent. You may be required to immediately repay these funds if you are no longer eligible for them. Your ability to register for courses may be blocked until you have repaid these funds.
Withdrawal
If circumstances require you to withdraw from enrollment during an academic quarter, you must file an official withdrawal request with the College. If we determine that you must repay all or a portion of your aid funds, such funds will be immediately due and payable, and you will not be able to obtain future federal student aid funds until your ineligible funds have been repaid. The University’s refund policy is described in the University Bulletin.
Information Sharing
As a condition of accepting scholarship funds from Zaytuna College, you automatically give permission to share certain information about you with the donor(s) of your scholarship, including the heirs of deceased donors. Specifically, you give permission to release to donors your full name, hometown, and major(s). You may be contacted by Zaytuna with a request that you send a letter of thanks to your scholarship donor; however, you are not required as a condition of your scholarship to comply with this request.
Statement of Confidentiality
Zaytuna College ensures the confidentiality of applicants’ and their families’ economic circumstances. Access to personally identifiable financial aid materials—including applications, financial aid transcripts, financial aid award letters, and loan applications—is limited to administrative personnel.
Acceptance of Financial Aid
When you accept financial aid at Zaytuna College, you must agree to the following terms: it is your responsibility to understand the relevant information in the College Catalog, Section 3.7; you are obligated to inform the College of any changes to your contact information; it is your responsibility to ensure that your tuition and fees are paid in full by due date.
Adjustment of Award
Zaytuna College reserves the right to adjust the financial aid award of a student at any time and for any reason. In this event, the College will do its best to provide the student, in good faith, with an explanation and lead time of at least one semester.
Zaytuna Student Housing
Zaytuna College provides all students housing within ten blocks of the campus. Students are responsible for their own meals and supplies, but essential furniture such as a chairs, desks, and beds are included. The estimated cost for housing can be found in the College Catalog, Section 4. The College does not assist students in securing alternative housing, should this be desired. Students who live in the area are welcome to commute from home.
