Liberation Theology and Islamic Thought in Light of the Arab Revolt

Professor Enrique Dussel, Imam Zaid Shakir & Dr. Hatem Bazian

As revolutions and uprisings sweep the Middle East and North Africa, Muslims across the world are energized by a wave of hopeful change in a region that has suffered far too long under the stultifying rule of “presidents for life.” Some voices in the Muslim world, however, are more hesitant, and view the protests as unsanctioned rebellions against legitimate rulers.

Join us on the campus of Zaytuna College as Imam Zaid Shakir and Dr. Hatem Bazian enter into a conversation with Professor Enrique Dussel, a South American thinker who has written extensively on the philosophy of liberation from another tradition.

This special event will also be featured as a live webcast for Zaytuna College Companions. Sign up to become a Companion before 3pm PST on Thursday, April 7, to be eligible to view this event. Existing Companions can use their passwords to log-in to the webcast.
